Why did you decide to pursue research experiences during your undergrad?
I was fortunate enough to have a very early idea of what I want to do after college: economics research. So it was all natural to accumulate experiences during my undergraduate. On the other hand, these experiences also help me see if research really fits me or not.
What have your experiences with research been like?
Research is not a straight line and anybody saying "Okay let's do this in exactly X months we'll get that exact Y results" is oversimplifying it. Doing research is engaging with uncertainty. You don't know what you're going to get after the regressions, and you might need to change the whole thing. But that's why it's fun, at least to me.
What got you involved in PREDOC.org?
I first knew and got involved with PREDOC since my summer class in 2022. It was an amazing experience. I then had the privilege to continue my involvement through being an alumni advisory board member. I come from a small school and am a first-gen student, so the whole idea of PREDOC just resonates strongly with me. The research world needs to broaden its intake/pipeline, and I'm here for it.
What do you hope other students might take away from PREDOC.org’s offerings?
That help and opportunities are always present. You just need to take the initiative to find them.
